Go Fishing
In the land of Sea, Sun and Sand the staple food has to absolutely border around fish, curry and rice, ‘fish’ being the highlight in any true blue Goan’s life. As far as I can remember, fishing is a very popular hobby. Families go fishing together with the most simple equipment and they have the tack of successfully hooking the fish. Simple bamboo sticks that worked as fishing rods with hook, line and bait were the basic equipment used in the earlier days. Many also do line fishing, that is, fishing without the fishing rod, as well as net fishing that is casting a net to catch fish closer to the shores or banks of the water. One will see ardent fishing fans along the bridges or near river banks, late evening relaxing while waiting for the fish to bite the bait. When in Goa, do as the Goans, pick up a new hobby, already fishing then up your skill and pick up that fishing line! It is an experience to try out atleast once. There are agencies that offer a variety of fishing options for beginners to advanced fishing enthusiasts or else hook up with the locals to teach you the tricks of the angling.
