Hyderabad: Splendid Skeletal Surprise

Hyderabad: Splendid Skeletal SurpriseHyderabad is a lovely city for a family holiday. There is plenty to suit all ages and interests. While the internet will be sufficient to inform one about all the tourist attractions, there was one that I clearly overlooked but discovered on one of those days we had not planned any sight-seeing.

Deciding to get some education thrown in with all the sightseeing, an impromptu trip suggested by the local rickshaw driver took us to the Birla Science Museum. It was a typical Science center with interactive display that engages children. An accidental turn, got us all excited to see right before our eyes the assembled skeleton of ‘Kotasaurus’, standing at 14 meters, discovered around a 160 million years ago.

Around 80% of its skeleton is original bone. The magnificent skeleton, saves you a trip to the Natural History Museum in London, if all one wanted to do is experience a glimpse of Jurassic Park. The dinosaur display at the Birla Museum, is equally comparable to the ‘Stegosaurus’ dinosaur displayed at the British Science Museum.

(Photography is not allowed, so keep aside those mobiles as one cannot capture the entire frame on a mobile. You will anyway get a better and free picture on the internet like the one displayed).
